Activities

We have a number of activities planned for the upcoming year, including wet labs, conferences, educational lunch meetings, and fundraisers.

Conferences

Students are encouraged to become national members of the AABP and as members, they receive free conference registration for the national convention. This year, the AABP Convention will be held at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Other conferences occur throughout the year and students are encouraged to attend including the annual SCAVMA Symposium, Western Veterinary Conference, Western Dairy Management Conference, and the annual GVMA meeting.

Wet Labs

During the upcoming year, we hope to have wet labs in palpation, calf processing, foot trimming, and animal welfare.

Educational Lunches

In the past, we have had speakers from industry, governmental organizations, veterinary schools, and private practice present current and relevant information in an effort to increase exposure to food animal production medicine.

One highlight from this past year was the lecture by Dr. John McCormack, who has been considered by many to be the American version of James Herriot.

Fundraising

The UGA scAABP actively fundraises to increase the opportunity for the student members to attend the annual national AABP conference. Some of the common fundraisers are T-shirt sales and monthly hamburger sales.
