Upcoming Activities
Cow Handling Day – Thursday, October 13th at 5:30 pm
at Rose Creek Farm
Learn how to move cattle, separate them and how to work a chute and head catch. This is a great way to get some hands on experience with cattle if you have little or no experience with them. We strongly encourage freshmen and sophomores in the small animal track to give cows a try, you may just find a new interest. Please wear clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting dirt, mud, and digested grass on, and do not wear sandals.
Directions to Rose Creek Farm – (see detailed map on the
AABP board) From the Vet School, take the loop west to the Watkinsville exit
and go south on 441. About a mile past the Racetrac, get in the turn lane to go
left toward the Watkinsville business district. About a mile and a half down
the road, you will come to a five way red light with a golden pantry gas
station across and to the right of you and a new strip mall to the left. Veer
to the right onto hwy 441. Go down that road for about ¾ miles and take the
first left onto Colham Ferry Road. Go for about 2 miles past an elementary
school and Bell Lake and turn left onto Rose Creek Drive. There is a little
house with a bunch of big pecan trees all around it on the corner of Colham
Ferry and Rose Creek. Go down Rose Creek Drive until it turns to a dirt road and
then travel about 1/3 of a mile to a house on the right. Park in the driveway and
look for the group behind the house.
